Up Too Late: An Endless Search for Mr.Right & Other Important Things in Life

I started watching the highly acclaimed TV show "Rome" after a whole bunch of friends talked non-stop about all the things wonderful in this show, namely, the dialogue, the actors, the acting, the sets.

I even lied to Gina last year, saying that I had indeed seen it, because I felt so pressured to see it: Somehow, I was supposed to have seen it.

After seeing season 1, I can safely say that my friends were right. This show is ADDICTIVE! It's great, and it's such a pity that the producers ran out of money following season 2 because they spent all of their funds creating authentic sets and making everything feel Rome-esque from 50BC.

Besides the super-sexy English accent they all sport, of course, I watch this show partly because unimaginably attractive actors appear on the screen, and a good few of them are bound to get naked at least once in an episode, and naked they get. They do it with everyone and anyone, and they don't care...

Kevin McKidd ("Kingdom of Heaven"...the blond hottie above) as Lucius Vorenus, Ray Stevenson ("King Arthur") as Titus Pullo, James Purefoy ("Vanity Fair"...the semi-hairy chested hunk in a "Bedrooms and Hallways" scene above) as Mark Antony, are all some of my favourite actors, and when they get rough, naked and verbal, well, then, I rest my case...

I have a special place in my heart for Polly Walker ("Patriot Games") who plays Atia of the Julii. She is funny, witty, sarcastic, sacrificial, cheap, evil, and quite entertaining. I can't wait to watch Season 2! What a great substitute for a boyfriend!

This week, I have the following films/shows on my video playlist:

1 - 1984 (1984) Faithfully adapted from George Orwell's novel on a futuristic totalitarian society. Funny that he thought it was futuristic.


2- Sophie's Choice (1982) - The film I am really looking forward to seeing [i have read and heard so much about the book]. Meryl Streep's performance got her an Oscar.
I am looking for something to validate the existence of my own ghosts by exploring Sophie's nightmares ....

3- Sabah (2005) - Hmmm, what would life be without filmmakers who make the hijab the synonym of repression? I can't wait to watch this cute, Canadian, idealistic, semi-political romance [I know, i know...funny, though, anytime religion gets somewhere, no matter how innocent the work may be, it reeks politics and political "ideals"]

4- Little Mosque on the Prairie, episode 2 - I want to check out the second episode to see if the show gets better. It's great for non-Muslims and for me, there is some novelty to it, but so far, I have not found it to be impressive, except of course, for my wannabe-husband Zaib Shaikh, who funny enough, played a gay character in a movie [if only i could remember the title]
